While I Was Watching The Sun

A warm-colored cover spread for a book filled with poems. The poems are like reading the author’s diary full of raw emotions, thoughts and situations that many of us can relate to. The author writes about her growth and connection to sunflowers which became the focus for the artwork on the cover. I suggested the size to feel like a journal that people can carry around to have easy access to  inspiration. The elements reflected the connection the author had with sunflowers while the color palette embodied the feeling of growth and enlightenment that the author experienced.

Book Cover Development

Evidently, the original concept shifted between the beginning and the final product. The braids at the bottom right became a rendering of the author, among the sun flowers. This decision was made to better embody the author’s connection with the sun flowers.
